National Reading Day Award
Baker Gardens preschoolers won a selection of books for their Library.

Numeracy and Literacy Week celebrations
Students combined to celebrate numeracy and literacy week by participating in literacy and numeracy rotations.
Dad's Breakfast
Students invited their dads to breakfast as part of the Dads in Education and Reading and Writing celebrations.
Reading Picnic
Parents and students gathered together for a reading picnic as part of the Word Rocks On celebrations.
The Word Rocks On Reading and Writing Festival
Each year Ainslie celebrates with a reading and writing festival called 'The Word Rocks On'. Student engage in reading and writing activities and celebrate the publication of their work. Book Week is also part of the celebration with many authors and illustrators visiting the school for work shops with the students.
J Rock Performance
Senior students from Ainslie School participate biannually in J Rock.
This year the performance 'Happy Town' was based on a children's picture book.
The school received the following awards:
Award of Excellence for Choreography
Award of Excellence for Soundtrack
Award of Excellence for Costuming character
The Gemma Dale Award for the school that displayed the best JRock spirit.
National Sorry Day
The Ainslie Senior School choir 'Voices' sang at Parliament House Canberra as part of the National Sorry Day events.

Reconciliation Week and award
Ainsllie Schoo was presented with a Reconciliation award in 2008, the following words are from the citation.."Ainslie School for their continuing commitment to Reconciliation, Indigenous Education, setting high expectations for all students, making genuine connections with the local Indigenous community and ensuring the school has a welcoming environment, particularly for Indigenous families. Ainslie School is one of the first organisations to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan in consultation with indigenous families."

'Special Forever' Launch
The Launch of the Special Forever book, 'Liquid Gold", was made by Senator Penny Wong, Minister for limate Change and Water, during a special assembly at Ainslie School. Some Ainslie students had artwork and poems included in the book.

Inaugrual National Music Teachers' Award
Julie Mayhew was awarded an inagrual National award for excellence in School Music Education in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the provision of music education in Australian schools by the Hon. Julie Bishop MP.
