Typical Program
Students at Canberra College typically undertake a program of study that involves 5 classes each semester for four semesters.
Canberra College offers a broad curriculum and students are encouraged to discuss their choices with their parents/carers and seek individual advice from their STEP teachers, the Student Services team, their classroom teachers and the Executive Teachers of each faculty.
Students are generally advised to enrol in classes they enjoy to maximise opportunities for success, but almost all post-school pathways have English as a pre-requisite. A typical program might look like this:
Semester 1 - Year 11
Semester 2 - Year 11
English, Maths, Science, Art and Sociology
Semester 3 - Year 12
English, Maths, Science, Metalwork and IT
Semester 4 - Year 12
English, Maths, Science, Metalwork and IT
A student who undertook the course pattern above would have a Major in English, a Major in Maths and a Major in Science - having completed four semesters of each course. They would also have Minors in Art, Sociology, Metalwork and IT - having completed two semesters of each.
Please note that this is an example only - individual students should seek personalised advice from any member of staff.
