Colour Poems

Our colour poems were part of our whole school writing festival.
First we brainstormed some ideas and feelings about our favourite colour.
To get us started we answered some questions about how the colour makes us feel
and what things in our world are that colour.

Orange is the colour of fire burning

Orange is the colour of orange textas

SALT  POEMS

The taste of salt is really nice
At a really cheap price.

I am salt, I swim all day
In a swimming pool I stay.

I'm a bit of salt in a shaker
And I get used by the baker.

Greetings to You!

You have been lucky to find one of my golden tickets. You must meet me at the gates of
Willy Wonka’s Factory at quarter past 6pm on the 25th of December.
Please bring one or two members from your family.

Snail Limericks
As a class we read lots of different limericks, and then we had a try at writing our own. It was funny when everyone shared their writing!

There was a small snail named Dale
Who loved to watch the hail.
“He thinks it great
and really top rate!”
Said little Dale the snail.

There was a small snail from jail
Who loved to sail on his whale!
He said "it is great
And really top rate!"
Said the little snail from jail

Worms and Gardeners
This was a whole class writing activity that helped us understand the importance of worms in our environment.

  How do worms help Gardeners?
Worms help gardeners in lots of ways.  First of all they aerate the soil.
My next reason is they recycle the food scraps, and their castings make it rich soil.
My last is that they help the environment.

Worms help gardeners in many ways.
One way is they make rich soil by decomposing food scrapes.
They help the environment by making good soil.
Worms are good because they recycle lots of things.
Worms are useful because they aerate our soil.

Fraction Food
In mathematics we explored what a half and a quarter looks like.
First we made a plate of our favourite food then we cut it in halves or quarters. Then we described how many pieces made up the whole.
