Gowrie Primary School  /  Principal's Welcome

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to the Gowrie Primary School Home Page. Our website is designed to share with you many of the programs, activities, features and news about the life of the school that makes Gowrie a special child centred place.

The strength of our school lies in the close partnership between students, staff and parents and the wider community which is highly valued by us all. We believe that students have a fundamental right to learn in a safe, supportive environment and to be treated with respect. We also value diversity and operate an inclusive learning environment for all students including those with a disability.

The Gowrie school community has added a number of special programs over the last twelve months including an additional autism unit, a new social skills program, intervention and extension programs in literacy and numeracy and an after school care program operated by the YMCA of Canberra.

Gowrie has a dedicated and professional team of teaching and non-teaching staff who offer a balance of youth and experience. The school buildings and grounds offer a unique design and setting with excellent internal and external facilities for all students and staff to enjoy.

Gowrie School was established in 1983 and the motto adopted at the time "Today Prepares Tomorrow" is just as relevant for the community in 2005 as it was then. We are committed to delivering learning programs and experiences that meet the academic, social, physical and psychological needs of our students and that cultivate success and life long learning for the future.

I am very proud to be part of "Team Gowrie" and together with professional staff, supportive parents and enthusiastic students we are all committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our children.

I invite you to peruse our website to find out more about the school or contact us to arrange a visit to the school.

Regards

Peter Macartney
