ABOUT US
SCHOOL POPULATION
Melba Copland Secondary School has a student population of 1100 students. The school has 720 students on the years 7-10 campus and 380 on years 11-12 college campus. The school is growing steadily and we look forward to a larger enrolment in year 7 for 2009 and in the 2009 year 11 on the college campus.
There are 120 staff comprising teaching and administrative staff. The staff range across all teaching and elective subjects while also providing extensive experience with tertiary, accredited and vocational courses at the college Year 12 Certificate level.
The staff also includes support staff through a counsellor, careers adviser, youth worker, chaplain, and several student services teachers to assist students.
Teaching staff have extensive experience in delivering the International Baccalaureate courses to students taking part in that progam.
SCHOOL BOARD
The MCSS Board is an elected body with the responsibility to determine the educational policies to be implemented. The Board will also ensure that the provision of facilities, equipment and resources are maintained at appropriate levels and standards. Finally, the Board will oversee the annual budget of the school.
