BAND PROGRAM
Melba High has an enthusiastic group of students who work together as musicians and performers in the school band. Each year new Year 7 students, plus continuing students have the opportunity to join the band and rehearsals take place at lunchtimes and in selected class times during the school week. Performances are an integral part of the program and these have occurred at local primary schools, aged care facilities, shopping centres, school fetes and at our own assemblies and presentation nights. Depending on the students' skills and interests in different musical styles there is sometimes the opportunity for more than one band to be formed. Vocal performances, both solo and in groups, also have played an important part in the band program. In recent years the band has toured schools in the region, as part of a more extensive three day excursion. They traveled as far as Cooma and enjoyed the experience of sharing their music with the students of these regional areas.
