DEBATING
Melba High School has a strong tradition of participation in the Inter-school debating competitions that are organised by the ACT Debating Union. Students from Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 are organised into teams and work both in class and at lunch times preparing topics for the competitions. Teachers in the English faculty coach the teams and encourage students to attend training sessions at the beginning of the competition.
In recent years both the year 7&8 and 9&10 teams have reached the finals. School teams have also been particapting in Inter School Parliamentary Debating since 2005.
