LEARNING SUPPORT CENTRE

Melba High School runs a Learning Support Centre (LSC) which caters for 40 students with identified educational needs.  The focus of the LSC is to provide opportunities for students to develop as independent citizens.  This includes independence in living, employment and community access.

The LSC provides a small class setting with specialist teachers and staff and a modified curriculum.   Students in the LSC complete their core subjects; English, Science,  SoSE and Mathematics, as a group and have the opportunity to complete  elective subjects in an integrated setting.  Assistive  Technology; including Interactive Whiteboards, computers and  specialised software are used extensively in the LSC curriculum to  support all students.

All students have an Individual Learning Plan, written in conjunction with families, outlining individual goals and strategies.  Family input and support is greatly valued at Melba High School.  In addition the school regularly works with external agencies to improve the outcomes for students.
