PEER MEDIATION
Peer mediation is a process where groups or individuals that are disagreeing are brought together with the help of two unbiased, trained students to work out their difficulties in a mediation session.
The School Counsellor and class teachers can refer students to mediation or they can refer themselves. Only those disputes that are deemed appropriate are passed on to the Peer Mediation Team. Student mediators undergo extensive training and follow a structured mediation program.
Peer mediation has been in place at Melba High School for three years and is proving to be a successful and valuable program.
